The sense of form with natural melodic lines, emotional looseness and restraint manifests the right balance between piano and orchestra.”Born in Moscow, Irina started taking lessons in music at the age of 5. At the age of 7 she joined the Central Music School under the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory where she studied with Professor Alexander Mndoyantz, Professor Vera Gornostaeva and legendary Professor, Academic Sergei Dorensky. She graduated from the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory studying under Professor Sergei Dorensky and received a Doctor of Musical Arts degree. Irina also studied with Professor Yuri Margulis at the UCLA University in Los Angeles and with Professor Oxana Yablonskaya at the Guilliard School in New York. Irina completed a Senior Course at the International Piano Academy “Incontri col Maestro” with Professor Boris Petrushansky in Imola, Italy and continues the collaboration with the Academy and with Maestro Vovka Ashkenazy. She completed a Master Course at the Talent Music Academy in Brescia with Professor Andrea Bonatta. She also completed a Master Course in Piano Performance at the Conservatorio di Musica A. Steffani with Professor Massimiliano Ferrati. She took masterclasses with Vincenzo Balzani, Andreas Frolich, Leonel Morales, Albert Mamriev,Yuri Bogdanov, Iliya Schepps, Arkadi Zenziper, Jerome Rose, Piotr Paleczny, Dmitry Bashkirov and Oleg Maisenberg. Irina has performed in Russia and Europe giving solo recitals, as well as chamber concerts and has performed with many symphony orchestras to critical acclaim. Irina won the First Prize and Grand Prix at the First Alemdar Karamanov Piano Competition in Ukraine; First Prize and the Grand Prix at the International Puigcerda Piano competition in Spain; Third prize at the International Competition “Riviera del Conero” in Ancona, Italy. Second prize at the International “Ennio Porrino” Piano Competition in Cagliari, Italy, where the First Prize was not awarded; Third Prize at the International Piano Competition Premio Pianistico Francesco Moscato in Airola, Italy; First Prize at the “Note Sul Mare” International piano competition in Ischia, Italy. In 2015 Irina also became a laureate of Dorothy MacKenzie Artist Recognition Scholarship Award in New York, USA. First Prize at the Malta International Piano Competition 2016; Second Prize at the First International Orbetello Piano Competition in 2017 Orbetello, Italy. Her recordings include CDs for Melodiya, Classical Records and a CD of the complete Chopin Etudes for Quartz Music. Irina Bogdanova plays Chopin ?tudes was released on Quartz Music and was received by the British press with critical acclaim. The recording received airplay on BBC Radio 3’s Late Junction and CD Review as well as being featured in the leading British magazines, Gramophone and BBC Music Magazine. Bryce Morrison in the August 2015 Gramophone compared the piano releases from Irina, Sodi Braide, Audrey Vigoureux, Alexander Schimpf and Olga Georgievskaya. He hails Irina as a ‘pianist of daunting proficiency, able to play all the notes impressively (no mean feat in such demanding fare)’ and gives special mention to her poise in the Trois Nouvelles ?tudes. Julian Haylock writing for BBC Music Magazine gives the recording an impressive 4 stars, and notes that the disc is ‘recorded with a clarity that recalls Pollini’s 1970 account for DG’ and remarks that ‘Bogdanova keeps a tight rein on Chopin’s poetic fantasy, making each ?tude a microcosm of sequential ingenuity’.
